What each tool is built to do
Instantly is built for volume under one flat price. The Growth plan covers 1,000 contacts and 5,000 emails a month, Hypergrowth 25,000 contacts and 100,000 emails, Light Speed more again. Every plan allows unlimited sending accounts. The lead database, 450 million contacts by Instantly's count, is a separate credit subscription starting at $47 a month. If you want to spin up thirty inboxes and push a large list, Instantly is designed for exactly that.
Woodpecker is built for smaller, more careful sending. You pay $7 per 100 prospects you actually contact each month, inboxes and team seats are free and unlimited. The product adds LinkedIn actions (invites, profile visits, messages, InMails) as a $29 per account add-on. Woodpecker states GDPR compliance on a dedicated page, which matters if your list is European.
Where they overlap
Both include warm-up, inbox rotation, sequences and a unified inbox for replies. Both offer a trial, Instantly without a card, Woodpecker for 14 days. For a two-person team sending a few thousand emails a month, either one works.
Where each one breaks
Instantly's weakness is the one every volume tool shares: the dashboard can look healthy while placement is poor. Reviews collected by a competitor (TrulyInbox, so read with that in mind) describe warm-up graphs that stayed green while campaigns hit spam, bot-first support and billing confusion after the AI Sales Agent launched on separate credits in 2026. The flat price also makes it easy to burn through a market: unlimited accounts do not make a list any more relevant.
Woodpecker's weakness is cost at scale and depth of reporting. Capterra reviewers rate it 4.5 from 33 reviews but call the reporting basic and note that the price grows once LinkedIn, extra warm-up slots and API are added. Contacting 10,000 prospects a month costs $700 before add-ons, which is where Instantly's flat plans start to win.
What changed recently
Woodpecker moved to per-contacted-prospect pricing, so most 2026 articles quoting $29 to $49 per slot are out of date. Instantly's Growth plan is $47 on monthly billing, not the $37 many reviews still repeat. Both figures come from the vendor pricing pages read on 7 September 2026.
