What is GCLID (Google Click Identifier)?

A unique tracking parameter appended to URLs by Google Ads to attribute conversions to specific clicks.

What is GCLID?

GCLID (Google Click Identifier) is a unique tracking parameter automatically added to your URLs when someone clicks a Google Ad. It allows Google Ads to attribute conversions back to the specific ad, keyword, and campaign that generated the click.

Why GCLID Matters

GCLID enables accurate conversion attribution at the most granular level, which exact keyword and ad copy led to a conversion. Without it, you can't optimize campaigns effectively.

How FlowStrata Handles Click Tracking

FlowStrata uses UTM parameters and custom tracking codes in our outbound links, similar in principle to GCLID but designed for email and LinkedIn outreach attribution rather than paid ads.
