What is Keyword Difficulty?
Keyword difficulty (KD) is a 0-100 score estimating how competitive a search term is. Higher scores mean more established, authoritative sites already rank for that term, making it harder to break onto page one.
KD Ranges
- 0-20: Easy, new sites can rank with quality content
- 20-40: Medium, requires strong content and some backlinks
- 40-60: Hard, needs authority, backlinks, and excellent content
- 60+: Very hard, dominated by major brands and publications
