What is Ad Rank?

The value determining your ad's position on the SERP, calculated from bid, quality score, and expected impact of extensions.

What is Ad Rank?

Ad Rank determines where your ad appears on the search results page. It's calculated by multiplying your bid amount by your Quality Score, plus the expected impact of ad extensions and formats.

Why Ad Rank Matters

Higher Ad Rank = better position = more clicks. But you don't need the highest bid to win top position, a lower bid with a higher Quality Score can outrank a higher bid with a lower score.

How to Improve Ad Rank

  • Increase Quality Score (improve ad relevance, CTR, landing page)
  • Use all relevant ad extensions
  • Test different bid strategies
  • Improve landing page speed and relevance
